1284. Hameln, Stadt an der Weser / Rattenverseucht, bestattet im Dreck und heimgesucht von Mäusen
Eines Tages erschien ein wunderlicher Mann, mit einem flammend roten Hut / Er versprach den geplagten Bürgern, Ratten und Mäuse zu vertreiben
Ratten! Mäuse!
Hameln versprach im einen Taler, wenn er die Plage vertreibt / Der geheimnisvolle Mann, zog eine Flöte; spielte wunderbar
Ratten und Mäuse folgten sofort / Er spielte und tanzte, zur Weser hinaus / Die Fluten machten der Plage (den) Garaus
Tote Ratten! Tote Mäuse! Tote Ratten! MäuseTOD!
Doch zahlen wollte Hameln nicht / Wutentbrannt spie er hinaus: Ich bin der wohlbekannte Sänger, und der vielgereiste Kinderfänger!!!
Am Sonntag kam er wieder und spielte seltsame Lieder / Wie Ratten folgten nun die Kinder und niemand sah sie wieder

On Sunday he came back and played strange songs / Like the rats followed the children and no one saw again them
